On Tuesday I moved all my stuff into my new room for the next month, and in the afternoon the couple arrived that will be staying here for the month. We all had supper in together in the evening. After supper and after all the dishes were done Cory asked if I wanted to bake something with him. So we decided on Cinnamon Buns. Well lets just say they turned out to be more like buns that tasted like cinnamon. They tasted good, they just didn't resemble a cinnamon bun. We decided that next time we would make something easier. Either way it was a fun time. I also really missed home today. It marked the day that I've been gone 2 months, which have just flown by.
Nothing much happened on Wednesday. I still missed home, but not as bad as I did on Tuesday. In the evening we had a bonfire and roasted some hot dogs and marshmallows.
Thursday morning we got out for a bit and went and delivered some Christmas cards to some of Margaret's friends and people she knows. It also allowed for the chance to see some places I've haven't seen yet. At one of the homes families we went to I got to meet the drunk father. I've met him when he was sober and came to do some yard work for Margaret. The lives some of these people live are not easy and I can't imagine living. In the evening we watched a movie, and that concludes Thursday :)
On Friday I stayed home in the morning and looked after the little boys, so that Margaret could go do her marketing. Otherwise during the day I just stayed home. In the afternoon I had my bible study. And then in the evening we went to Spanish Lookout for a Christmas concert. It was the EMMC School Christmas concert. One of Margaret's former foster child had invited us to go see his concert, so that is why we went. The concert was very similar to the ones I see at home. Each class shared a couple songs or poems. And 1 class did a skit. They too also had little goody bags that they handed out at the end. Only instead of a Christmas orange they had an apple. It was a good evening.
On Saturday we went from having a active yard with lots of people action to a quiet one. Marisol and her kids left early in the morning for Guatemala to spend Christmas with her family. Zion also left later. He will be spending Christmas and New Year's with the Twins. I'm not sure if I've mentioned this, but the twins are being adopted and they have gone to live with their adoptive parents. The parents have now also requested Zion, so Zion is spending Christmas with them to see if it is a good match. So it's pretty quiet around here. The only kid we have is Tino, and he is a really content kid.
Sunday morning during church the Sunday school put on a Christmas program as part of the service. After the morning service we had a lunch, which consisted of wings and mashed potatoes. When we got home from church Margaret and I watched a Christmas movie and drank hot drinks. Instead of snow falling outside, there was rain :)
Just another typical Monday for me :) Did some laundry and went downtown :) This time I went out for lunch though :) It felt good to get out for a while. In the evening we went out for supper to celebrate Margaret's birthday. When we got back I called my grandparents and got to spend some time talking to them. It was another good day!
Today we went to Spanish Lookout to run some errands. A girl that Margaret knows and has sometimes helped her look after kids joined us for the day. This morning I also got to meet the girl that spent the night with us. Margaret got a call last night asking if she could take in a 16 year old girl for the night. The social worker came and picked her up this morning. In the evening I looked after Tino while Margaret was at a church meeting. Spent some time watching a Christmas movie and talking with my parents. It's been a good week, looking forward to seeing how Christmas is celebrated here!
