Sunday night Zion came to stay with me, he had been staying at Marisol's house until then, and he stayed with me for the rest of the time. Monday was a holiday here so the kids had no school, although I don't know which holiday it was. In the morning Dayana, Darren, Zion and I went downtown to get chicken food and some vegetables. Otherwise it was just a quiet day around the house.
Tuesday turned into a crazy day! It started out as a quiet day, with just Zion and I on the yard. Then sometime between 4 and 4:30 the social worker stopped by and asked if we could take in a baby for the night. He had been trying to get a hold of Margaret, but she wasn't answering. So Marisol agreed to take the baby. They took the baby to the hospital, and then brought him back. He is a special needs child and when we took him we forgot to ask some important questions. Like how old is he and what is his name! He looks like a baby, but he really could be older. We did ask though if he came with any diapers or what he ate, and the social worker said that they would bring some by first thing in the morning, and to talk to Margaret. So from that we gathered he would be staying more than 1 night.
We did get a hold of Margaret, so she knew that there was a new baby waiting for her when she got home. Today I also got to meet her son Cory. I have met him once or twice before, but that is it. There was a lot of action in the evening.
Wednesday we stayed home all day, but there was still a flurry of activity around here, with different people stopping by, and getting to know the new baby. We did find out his age, he'll be 2 in Feb, and his name, which I believe is Faustino. In the evening Margaret went to ladies study, and Cory went to stay at a couple's house. So it was just me and the little ones. Dayana and Darren also came over, they were a help in more ways then one.
Thursday morning I went to preschool, it was my last time until after Christmas. Otherwise we didn't do too much. We also found out that Faustino will be staying with us for 3 months. We also gave him the nickname, Tino.
I also thought I would take some time to give you a little more detail as to what preschool looks like. There are 2 class that happen at the same time. One class is at one end of the room and the other class at the other end. In the middle of the room is where all the toys are. There are 2 teachers and the kids come together during play time to play, otherwise they are with their respective teacher. The mornings (when I go) are for kids age 4, and the afternoons are for the kids that are 3. Expect Friday morning all the kids come. Then each class has about 20-25 kids, and otherwise there is about 10-15 kids. The day starts out with the kids coloring in their coloring books, once their picture is finished they can go and play. Then they have a time where they sing songs and have the daily lesson. They also sing there national anthem and do the their pledge. After comes snack, then they do an activity based on that day's lesson. Then it's home time. Some days it can be quite crazy!
Friday was passport stamping day again! It felt like a long couple of hours at immigration. I got there at around 9:30 and it was about an hour later before they started calling numbers. There were a bunch of other people there that all went through first. Then just before lunch they called number 46 and I was number 50. Then they took a break until 1 :( So Close!! At least I got to go get something to eat and use the bathroom! I was out of there and had my passport stamped by 1:30. The evening was spent watching movies and eating pizza.
Saturday was another quiet day around here. In the evening we went out to Cayo Twist for ice cream.
Sunday we went to church in the morning. Had a relaxing afternoon around the house playing games and hanging out. In the evening we went to bible study again. Then called it a night.
Today I have spent some time packing and cleaning my room. There is a couple coming down tomorrow and they will be staying in the room I was staying in for the next month. So I will be moving to a little guest room/house that is quite a bit smaller. What I am currently staying in is more like a basement suit. There is a bedroom, bathroom, and a small kitchen and table. The room I'm moving into is a bed and it has a bathroom in it. So I've spent some time getting both rooms ready. In the after lunch I went downtown for a bit, to get out. Later I spent some time with Dayana. We were supposed to do our bible study today because we didn't do it on Friday, but she was the only one that came. We still did it and I enjoyed spending some more time with just her.
I can't believe it's less then 2 weeks till Christmas!! I enjoy it when we go out after dark and I can see all the Christmas lights up. Otherwise it doesn't feel quite like Christmas. I guess I need to learn that you don't need snow for it to feel like Christmas. There doesn't seem to be quite the hustle and bustle that one would find in North America. Maybe it's just the way Margaret does Christmas or maybe it's just the culture here. Although I did see a big Christmas Tree downtown today. (It was a fake one:) But it is a great reminder that that's not what Christmas is about anyways. It's about the birth of our Savior.
